Upon entering into Mississippi thursday, we had to pull over and wait out a tornado that was in the area for about an hour or so. Then come saturday night, about 7 or 8 more tonadoes decided they wanted to surround the Booneville area. What a great night that was! But after hiding out for a while in the closet and staying up until things settled down, we were able to go to bed...only to need to be up in about five hours to leave the next morning. So we get up first thing sunday (mother's day) and head out. Upon making our second turn out of the children's neighborhood, we couldn't make the turn with the car attached without having the car go into a big ditch on either side. So, of course, we had to unhook and realign and go again. We were heading for Little Rock and the drive should have been about four hours but the weather was so windy that Van had to fight the wind constantly just to keep the motorcoach on the road. What fun!!

Today is Monday and we have driven about 7 1/2 hours and made it to Salina, Kansas. We have been through Oklahoma and now Kansas and I am here to tell you that there is NOTHING in these two states. Nothing but grass growing for miles on either side of the interstate. And, the only roads that didn't beat us to death were the toll roads. It cost us about $15 to drive about 3 hours on the turnpike and those roads were great. We are willing to pay anytime we can be on a road that is decent. What a crime for our interstates to be in such bad shape.

We are staying in a wonderful place about 10 miles south of Salina. It is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed in and it cost us a big whopping $10 with our Passport America discount. We have free satellite and wifi...what a deal!!

It's late and we have another 7 or 8 hour drive tomorrow to make it to Colorado Springs.

Hope everyone is doing fine and we sure miss you all already
